The First Day of Blogging. . .

Welcome to the world of Blogging....

thats an apt greeting i would pose to myself as i have finally gotten the motivation and the right google search to start my Blog spot.

Well a little about the first day here.... just finished the dauly crossword that comes in one of the local papers and exchanged the answers with another colleague from Project Management.

Oh yea, for those of you who might (or might not) know me and what it is that i do... i am currently (and i emphasize currently as i am looking for my calling and running out of time) the Public Relations Manager for the largest cellular service company of Pakistan. The job entails my making sure that the average joe (as well as the not so average joe) thinks favourably about Mobilink www.mobilinkgsm.com

The job has its ups and downs but i guess i am enjoying it cause it uses some form of creativity to come up with the right spins to give the news stories and issues that we do face (more often than not)

The easiest way for me to define our position to you (the public and private) is that we are the proverbial Microsoft of Pakistan taking a hit from anyone and everyone who wants a piece of the action. and i would not be wrong in saying that we do control a big piece of that pie.

Well enough about work... the local stock market just closed and i am up in my overall position but perhaps not by as much as i would like to be. some background on our local stock market... the KSE (Karachi Stock Exchange) index today closed at a high of 11278.45 points. Pretty high for a market which is run on rumours, speculations and the purchasing power of two or maybe three buying houses...keeping it risky, exciting, with high returns (or losses) but dayum what a rush.

I'm holding the position on a tip i got from a reliable source on a chemical company so lets see how that fares on Friday.

Found out that another colleague is an active trader. will wait and see what his grasp on the market is before i pledge the remainder of my minute fortune into the market on another whimsical binge that cost me more stress than loss. As a flashback i rode this market on its jump last year and made some decent money but then lost all the profits and a couple of grand on the fall. No..the once bitten twice shy idiom does not fit the stock market thank you very much.

well thats that for now. gotta go hit the work again, some reporter wants my comments on the upcoming marketing conference we are supporting and being one of the largest marketeers i need to say something dynamic that will impress the hell out of him and get a good quote in tomorrows morning edition of our leading newspaper...

till then adios and keep an eye out on the Engro stock cause i hear its gonna go up and some!!
